The virus, which paralyzed the whole world, including Slovenia, finally lost a bit of power in May. Slovenia declared the epidemic on March, 12th and canceled it on 14th of May. A lot of everything happened during this period – both good and bad, meaningful and meaningless… I would not like to waste words on what was happening, most importantly, since the second half of April, the number of infected people has been decreasing day by day, and in proportion to this, the measurements have finally started to loosen, especially when it comes to opening borders. Initially, regional borders were opened within the country, and soon after, as the first, the state border with the southern neighbor Croatia.
Both mother and father were born in Croatia, so we were able to cross the border a little earlier than most Slovenian citizens. The visit to the village of Orlić in Croatia was planned as early as the beginning of March, and the reasons why this was not the case probably do not need to be repeated – you guessed right: virus! Anyway, we were happy to be able to set off immediately after the cancellation of the epidemic in Slovenia.
The main purpose of visiting the village where my father is from was to arrange the surroundings of my uncle’s house and, of course, to do work in the field before the harvest of plant immortelle, which is planned for the end of June. The field was already heavily overgrown with weeds, so the culture we grow was not visible at all. With the joint efforts and good will, my parents and me, we still managed to put the field in order in just 5 days. Numerous hoe swings and mileage with the mower were eventually repaid.
We did not only work and it was not all about immortelle. As always in Orlić village, we also enjoyed, enjoyed small things, in close contact with nature, accompanied by very few relatives and neighbors there. In the meantime, I tried to capture few scenes that attracted me the most. I made an album (in gallery below), which I named: ‘Colors of Orlić’.
