Month of April is the time, when in Shanghai is all about the fashion. It is time, when the popular fashion event – Shanghai Fashion Week #SHFW returns to the city. It is so twice a year. Given the situation elsewhere in the world – where fashion week events could only be watched via live stream from the home armchair, with no live audience present – in China, ‘fashion world’ was lucky enough, country dealt with the virus so effectively, fashion brands were able to present themselves to a large audience live, normally, without any limitations. In a program lasting more than two weeks, a number of fashion brands were presenting their new collection and trends for the next autumn-winter 2021 season.
I missed last two Shanghai Fashion Weeks, since I was out of China, due to the difficulties with working visa and all the Covid-19 measures and restrictions. This time I was able to attend it again. I attended it both, as a guest representing fashion magazine MODE, as well as a model.
From a model standpoint, the experience at this fashion week was a little different, than I was used to before. Specifically, the fashion show, I performed at, was a little different this time. I did not perform on the catwalk alone or in the company of other models as usual, but me walking and pushing a stroller with a baby in it, yes, a real baby! This was something new for me.
Despite the fact, baby was crying and kicking with her feet in a stroller just a few moments, before we left the backstage and took the runway, in the end everything went as it should. Her mom managed to calm her down just on time, by giving her a toy, after the baby girl was like a star, without any signs of fear. I, on the other hand, acted like a strict dad, maybe too strict. Anyway, we walked calmly, without me falling or baby crying, to the end of the runway and all the way back to the backstage. As it turns out, the baby enjoyed the glare of the headlights and the loud rhythms of the music, and so did I. In the end, we were both richer for another new experience. See you until next Shanghai Fashion Week, when new trends for the spring-summer 2022 will be presented.
