Fashion is rapidly evolving in China, which is not only visible on the streets, where people wear bolder and trendier designs of major global fashion brands, but also in the fast growing range of fashionable local brands offering extremely good quality and design. Clothing, jewelry, accessories or shoes… just name it, they have it all, for all types and tastes.
The competition is getting really big and fierce in the area and has already a lot to show. Thus, each of the promising or already established brands are seeking for every opportunity to present themselves to larger number of customers and gain them on their side.
One of those opportunities is definitely Fashion Week, along with multi-day showrooms, presented in the city two times a year, for around 2 weeks. I have been visiting shows and showrooms as a MODE magazine PR for the last two years now. Just two years is enough for China to be able to see the difference or the real progress. It goes that fast here. If there were only two major showrooms in the city 2 years ago for the brands to participate on, there were at least 5 more high-level ones on this year’s 2020 Spring/Summer Collection showrooms. All of them on prestigious locations across Shanghai, offering space for hundreds of brands. There is a lot of interest in fashion here and it’s becoming a real hit. Showrooms were crowded with people: visitors, media and buyers.
Along with the progress more and more new famous Chinese fashion KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) can be seen in China, especially on events like Fashion Week. Their number of Instagram, TIK-TOK or Weibo followers is rapidly growing, reaching millions and millions of fans. More fans and fashion enthusiast, of course, means only one for brands – they want to be part of KOL’s world too, when KOL shares a picture or a video to the world.
China will play and is already playing a huge part in the development of global fashion trends and industry. Some Chinese brands are already participating on the biggest Fashion week stages around the world (New York, London, Paris, Milan), which was something unthinkable years ago. For each of the fashion brands (global and Chinese) will definitely be very important to be present in China at these times and have the chance to look for even greater heights and success in the challenging China market.
