In mid-January, after almost a year since I was last there, I visited the island province of Hainan again – escaping at least a little the low winter temperatures and rain in Shanghai at that time. This was my fourth visit to this exotic place. The visit was again of a working nature, as I was chosen to shoot on the sandy beaches of the capital and largest city of Hainan – the city of Sanya. I did shoot for a newly established swimsuit brand, whose name I unfortunately did not remember, but I should have, because I really liked their designs and materials. The photo and video shoot took place in a good and relaxed spirit, without any upsets or surprises. The whole team was very friendly, helpful and professional. You can see some moments from the shooting in the atttached video and images.
Before leaving Shanghai, I agreed with the agent, who recommended me for this job, to buy two more nights myself, so that I could enjoy this Chinese tropical paradise a little longer, if I am already there. All she had to do, however, was to adjust the plane ticket for me, so I didn’t return to Shanghai immediately after the job, but a little later. She agreed without any hesitation, and so I stayed in city of Sanya altogether for 4 days. During this time, I took a good swim in the sea, consumed lots of vitamin D, drank almost 20 coconuts, and simply enjoyed it. On the first afternoon in Sanya, I visited a beautiful avenue – “Sanya Star Avenue of Talents”, which was located just a few blocks away from the hotel where I was staying. The second day was devoted to (before mentioned) work. We started at 10 o’clock in the morning and finished shortly before six o’clock in the evening.
Of course, without visiting the bar before leaving Sanya it did not work for me. An unknown local girl advised me of the bar named Dolphin. So it was, I spent one night there. Dolphin Bar pleasantly surprised me. They had live music inside and there were quite a lot of people for Thursday evening. I sat down in the only seat available next to the bar and ordered a whiskey highball, one, and another one and a third one. Coincidentally, I met a colorful group of people in the bar, who were from all around the world: from Brazil, Cuba, Russia, China, and even from our neighboring country, Hungary. So the planned two or three drinks turned into a little more of them. I came back to the hotel at about five or six in the morning. The work that took me here was done, so I was worry-free. I got a good and long night’s sleep, and took advantage of the last day on the island. Soon it was time to return to Shanghai.
Bye, Sanya, it was fun!
